In the run-up
to the launch of Football Manager 2013, Sports Interactive's Studio Director
Miles Jacobson presents a series of video blogs detailing a number of the game's
new and improved features. In this, the first of the series, Miles sheds some
light on the enhanced match engine.

The first video blog of the series showcases the improved match engine in Football Manager 2013. In this year's release, everything on and around the pitch will look more realistic; from the stadiums and crowds through the players' movements and the way the ball moves through the air. A variety of new and improved animations give matches a more realistic feel, while a revamp of the camera system makes the matchday experience more 'televisual'. These visual enhancements are underpinned by a dramatic improvement in the match engine's artificial intelligence system.

Quick overview of the most important changes and improvements:
New physics engine: the ball moves more realistically and the players react in a more natural way. The ball is also affected by pitch and weather conditions.
Players body scaling is more realistic. Head tracking is also improved.
Rewritten huge amounts of the match engine's AI (Artificial Intelligence) to make it even more realistic.
Added new cameras and improved already existed angles. Plus you now can zoom in and out for every angle.
Hundreds of new and improved animations.
Attention to stadium details.
Improvements to the 2D pitch as well.
