[Strategy Informer:] The first thing we want to know is, what was the main focus when starting work on the sequel, and what aspect of the last game needed the biggest improvement?
首先,TDU二代最關注的焦點是什麼?哪些又是前代最需大力改進的部份?
[Alain Jarniou:] The first thing was to work on the community of Test Drive, when you are playing. So, a better world for meeting people, because it's very important when driving on the island to meet other people. The fact that we now have the 「Walk Mode,」 where you can just walk around the cars, and it becomes something that you can use in the whole game, like if you go into a car dealers, so this was very important.
優先項目就是建立TDU的線上社群。也就是一個更好的社交環境,因為在島上開車與其他人交流是非常重要的。現在我們創造了「步行模式」,讓大家可以在車子旁邊走動。這也成了一項進行遊戲的要素,以便你能走進車店等等。
You are always people. In the first Test Drive you were only with people when you were in free ride, now if you go into a car dealers or in your house you can invite friends and see other people. It becomes more persistent and more like an MMO. Also, we developed the club aspect, which is very important for playing with your friends and having a common goal, so this was a main thing.
人不離群。在TDU一代裡,只有在自由駕駛模式裡才能碰到其他人。現在車店或自宅裡都可以邀請朋友,或與他人交流了。變得更耐玩,也更像個網路遊戲。創建俱樂部讓一同遊戲的朋友們有了共同的奮鬥目標,這也是非常要緊的事情。
Technically, talking about the universe of Test Drive, we have a day and night cycle that came from huge feedback we had from the community. They wanted something more realistic so we added other weather and this new island of Ibiza, which was very important as well.
我們收到社群網友們的迴響,強烈要求要有晝夜交替系統。大家希望提高真實性,因此我們增加了天氣系統和全新的伊維薩島。
[trategy Informer:] You've added a first person viewpoint to most of the game. Is the main focus the cars or the location this time round?
這次在本作中新增了「第一人稱視角」。主要是用在車上或其他場所?
[Alain Jarniou: ] The idea is to walk around the car and look very closely at the car, as we've made lots of improvement on the quality of the car- from the outside shape to the interiors. We want the player to admire the car, and so meet other players via avatars, which will become a very important part of Test Drive. You can talk, you can share experiences together and it's more like an MMO.
這個想法是用來就近觀察車子,因為我們大大提昇了車輛外觀和內裝的品質。我們希望玩家可以好好欣賞車子,並用遊戲中的角色與其他玩家交流。這也是本系列最重要的元素。人可以走動,也可以分享經驗,這才像個網路遊戲。
[Strategy Informer:] Exploring was an extremely fun part of the last game, are players going to be rewarded for doing so in Test Drive 2?
在TDU一代裡,光是探索新路就非常有趣。那二代會不會有更多的探路獎勵?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yeah, yeah yeah! Many players of the first game were just driving around and exploring the island, and so fascinated to just do this. We wanted this Test Drive to reward the player for doing this, so a part of the progression is earned via exploration now. You can earn money just by driving, you know, by doing jobs, drifts and dodging other cars.
那當然了!在前作中,許多玩家都很著迷於兜風和探路。我們當然不會辜負玩家的努力囉。這次可以靠著探路來提升部分等級。光是開車就可以賺錢啦,像是接任務、玩玩甩尾飄移、或是閃避其他車輛等等。
You also have all those car parts we call wrecks that you can find in some places on the island that's not on the road, so in the mountains and forests and so on. You can gain special cars just by driving and finding these parts. You can't get these anywhere in the game, and these are mostly exotic cars.
也可以在馬路外面,或山區森林裡找到一些車輛殘骸。多逛逛並收集這些東西,可以換取一些特殊車輛。這些東西可不是隨手得的,換來的車也算風格獨具。
[Strategy Informer:] Ibiza and Hawaii are in the game, were these realistically mapped?
遊戲裡有伊維薩和夏威夷,這兩個地方都會按真實地圖描繪嗎?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yes, via satellite. We already had Hawaii in the first game, so when we started work on Ibiza we got the project data of the island and a network that allowed us to reproduce all of the island, choose the interesting parts and make it alive in Test Drive.
是的,用衛星航測來做。一代已經有了夏威夷,所以我們用一些投影資料和網路支援來製作伊維薩島,選擇了出一些有趣的點,並且把它弄進遊戲中。
[Strategy Informer:] How's Hawaii changed from the first game?
那TDU一代的夏威夷有再改進嗎?
[Alain Jarniou:] You will have seen the graphical enhancements that we made for Ibiza. Those enhancements have also been made on Hawaii, talking about rendering, the day and night cycle is also a big strength. You also have things like the seabed and so on, so everything is much more beautiful. We also added mini off road routes and some more asphalt roads so you can now reach places that you couldn't in the first one, like mountains.
大家都看到了伊維薩島的圖像增進效果,這些也會用在夏威夷上。說到渲染效果,晝夜變化可算是一項強大的助力。還有做像海床之類的東西,總之一切都變得更美了。我們也增設了一些越野小徑和瀝青路,使大家可以去TDU一代所不能到達的山裏面。
The idea is that even if you've played through the first Test Drive on Hawaii, all of the missions have been redesigned and are not the same, so we've made huge changes there.
我們做了許多重大改變,所有任務都重新設計過,就算你玩透了TDU一代也沒關係啦!
[Strategy Informer: ] Do the changes in weather conditions affect the way the car drives?
天候會不會影響駕駛?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yes. You have different handling on roads, on earth and off road, and when it's raining as well there will be a change.
會的,一下雨的話,不管在道路或泥巴路上,都會有影響。
[Strategy Informer:] The game is very much a social experience, have you ever thought about integrating Facebook and Twitter into the game?
這遊戲既然標榜社交功能,你們有沒有考慮把「臉書」和「推特」整合進遊戲中?
[Alain Jarniou:] That is something we have thought about, and we will communicate on this question at a later time.
這個當然考慮過,但還需要再討論。
[Strategy Informer:] Also, we haven't seen any motorcycles in the game. Are they in the game?
到現在還是沒有看到機車出現。這次會有機車嗎?
[Alain Jarniou:] We are planning on putting motorcycles in the game very quickly, but not on day one.

[Strategy Informer:] As downloaded content?
就是「DLC網路下載元件」嗎?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yes, yes. When we continue to upgrade the game.

[Strategy Informer:] Any other special vehicles we should look out for?
會更有多特殊車輛嗎?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yes, indeed. In this Test Drive we can talk about the cars you can make by finding wrecks. I can't say more about these special cars, but they're very cool to drive. Other vehicles we have include classical cars, that mainly have very specific handling, and 4X4 cars that will go off road, that also add different gameplay to the cars that go on asphalt.
有。前述已及,就是收集殘骸那些,我就不多談了。反正開起來很酷。還有開起來很特別的經典車輛、越野用的4X4車輛、以及一些瀝青路的遊戲。
[Strategy Informer:] Is there going to be an auction house in the game? Are you looking for players to customise cars and sell them off for a profit?
遊戲中會不會有車輛拍賣會場?能不能讓玩家販賣自製車輛來賺錢?
[Alain Jarniou:] Not on day one if you're speaking about a market. This is the kind of thing we plan to make quickly if the community asks for it. According to what people say, what is cool and what is missing, we'll continue to expand.
在遊戲發售時還不會有。這些東西會依據網友的意見增設。我們會繼續去做那些大家認為很酷而還沒做的東西。
[Strategy Informer:] Aside from DLC, is there anything you're looking to integrate into the game?
除了「DLC網路下載元件」以外,你們還打算把哪些東西收進遊戲當中?
[Alain Jarniou:] Yeah, the game has been designed so we can make whatever changes we want. It can be cars, new houses, new game modes- everything is possible.
嗯。這套遊戲可以按照我們的意思增減。可以弄新車子、新房子,甚至是新的遊戲模式,一切都有可能。
[Strategy Informer: ] So for those who never picked up the first Test Drive, why should they go out and buy it?
如何能讓沒玩過TDU一代的人去買這套遊戲?
[Alain Jarniou:] It's easy to learn and hard to master. It's more MMO style, so you will be with your friends at any time. If you've played the first one, this is a very exciting experience you can share with people, your cars, your driving skills and so on. This MMO aspect of the game is very addictive.
這遊戲容易上手卻不易稱霸。這是個網路遊戲,大家都得靠朋友。相較於TDU一代,這次更可以大方分享你的車子、駕駛技術和其他東西。網路型態的遊戲令人回味無窮。
