With the arrival of Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, we were introduced to a new class of units called "Epic Units." Epic Units are slow, super heavy vehicles that can take and deal massive amounts of damage and even run over tier 3 vehicles. Each Epic Unit also has a special ability that further complements your army.

In addition to their abilities, Epic Units have a number of garrisonable hard-points. When you put certain infantry into these hard-points a permanent upgrade will appear depending on the type of infantry you add. This makes Epic Units very customizable.

Mammoth Armed Reclamation Vehicle (MARV)

The MARV is GDI's Epic Unit, and a beast of an Epic Unit at that. It is armed with an area of effect Sonic Cannon that does massive damage to units in a small area. This makes the MARV extremely powerful against masses of smaller units. As powerful as it is, this weapon only constitutes a fraction of the MARV's potential.

In addition to its regular weapon, the MARV can be garrisoned with up to four infantry squads, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Rifleman Squad - This creates an anti-infantry machine gun on one of the hard-points of the MARV. Now, this will probably be one of, if not the last option you would want to use for your MARV. While it is useful in theory, there are still much better options.

Missile Squad - This will evolve an anti-vehicle and anti-air missile launcher on your MARV. This is a nice all-around choice for your MARV. Where Missile Squads are so very useful in their own rights, it has the same effect on the MARV. Remember when you are selecting what to upgrade your MARV with that it doesn't have any anti-air defenses of its own initially.

Engineer/Combat Engineer - Using these will generate a slow auto-repair for your MARV. The more of these that you upgrade your MARV with, the faster the rate of healing. This is definitely one of the better upgrades, however, the repair rate is fairly slow with lower numbers. Also, remember that this won't help you much in a fight, so it is a waste if your MARV is fighting a whole lot of units, or fighting an opponent that won't let up on it.

Grenadier Squad - This will create an anti-structure grenade launcher on your MARV that has the ability to clear garrisons. While it is a good idea in theory, it is situational at best, and other hard points will serve effectively as garrison clearer while serving other purposes as well.

Sniper Team - This will create an anti-infantry Sniper Rifle on your MARV. This is obviously great against infantry units that are pretty durable but have a smaller squad size, but beyond that, it will probably not serve as well against infantry as a couple of Hammerheads supporting your MARV would. Might as well not waste these hard points, right?

Zone Troopers - This will give you an anti-vehicle rail gun on your MARV. For pure power, this is what you are looking at. Zone Troopers are great, but are hindered by the fact that they are weak against infantry, but garrisoned in a MARV, this problem is mitigated. Remember that these can't attack air units, so it might be a good idea to mix it up instead of having four Zone Troopers.

Zone Raiders - This will give you a Sonic Grenade launcher, an area of effect weapon just like the MARV's initial weapon, but not as powerful. It is basically a Zone Trooper except with anti-air, so if you know how good they are, then you'll know this will be your unit of choice if you are ZOCOM (since only ZOCOM get the Zone Raider). Again, remember that you will have no anti-air, so it would be nice to either support them, or supplement them with Missile Squads.

Now, if that wasn't enough for you, the MARV also has its very own special ability whereby it can harvest tiberium, process it, and deposit it in your bank account instantly. You would think that there's a catch to this, such as not giving you the full funds that a regular harvester brings in, however, this is not the case. It will give you the full amount of funds regularly, but only up to your credit limit. If you don't have enough silos or refineries the rest will go to waste. Beware, over-harvesting your fields and mis-using your funds just because you need to get rid of them. It is best used on an opponent's tiberium field or a neutral field that you aren't in the position to harvest regularly. This way you don't overextend your economy and then fizzle out with nothing left.

Suggested Combinations
建议组合

These combinations are good all round combinations that should be able to deal with various different threats

  • Four Engineers/Combat Engineers: If your opponent has a fairly large ground armada and your army is looking very grim, you might want to opt for the four Engineers. This gives you one hell of a meat shield and should give you time to micro your few remaining units.
  • 四工程师/战斗工程师:如果你的对手有一支巨大的地面部队,而你的部队看起来形势非常严峻,那么你可以选择四工程师。这将给你一个地狱级的大肉盾,从而为你微操其他部队赢得时间。
  • Four Missile Squads: This one is recommended if your opponent has a formidable air force. Although having four is a bit much, you are only susceptible to mass infantry.

  • Four Zone Troopers/Zone Raiders: This is a powerhouse combo. When attacking with this combo you should always be moving in. The range of the ZT/ZR is lackluster so work on squishing your opponent's army with the MARV, and while his micro is out of sync, take advantage.

  • Two Zone Troopers/Zone Raiders and Two Missile Squads: Go for this combo if you are looking to shell out a ton of damage. However you are in trouble if your MARV is left alone against too much firepower.

  • Two Zone Troopers/Zone Raiders and Two Snipers: This is another fairly balanced combination. Load your ZT/ZR first so they are in the front of your MARV and let the Snipers and their range take out units from the back.

Priority Slots:

Remember that that MARV has two garrison slots in the front and two on the back; so which ever infantry squad you put in first, will appear on the front of the MARV. Make sure you put more hard hitting units, like Zone Troopers/Raiders/Missile Squads in the MARV first to optimize performance and add auxiliary infantry like Engineers/Snipers last where the longer range is not needed.
记住MARV有两个驻扎槽在前面,两个在后面;所以先进入的步兵会出现在MARV前面的位置。确保你把主攻单位,比如重装机兵/重装mm/火箭兵放在前面以便优化性能,而把辅助步兵比如工程师/狙击手放在射程不是那么重要的后面。

To sum up the MARV, it really is a straight-forward unit. Its four garrisons slots make versatility superior to that of the other Epic Units however its still all about power and force with no other tricks up its sleeve. Now, this is in no way a bad thing at all, and it is a terrific addition to a slow, hard-hitting type force.

The Redeemer

(救赎者)





The Redeemer is the Brotherhood of Nod's Epic Unit. The Redeemer uses a tri-laser cannon that is very powerful versus a single unit. Good range and power are great things to have with an Epic Unit, as it means it is easy to tactically support, instead of risking it in the middle of firefight. However, the biggest advantage for the Redeemer isn't its firepower.

Now, just like the MARV, the Redeemer can be garrisoned with infantry. However, the Redeemer is only able to garrison two infantry in it to upgrade itself. Also, it doesn't have as many choices, but does have a very nice choice or two that go well with the unit itself.
和MARV类似,救赎者也可以进驻步兵。不过,救赎者只能进驻两组步兵来升级自己。也就是说,它没有MARV那么多的选择余地,不过根据单位自身的特点,有一两种组合非常适合它。

Militant Squad/The Awakened - This will create an anti-infantry machine gun turret on the Redeemer's shoulder. Just like the garrison of a Rifleman Squad into a MARV, this is probably the last upgrade you will want to use. It isn't much more powerful than a Militant Squad, and you can find better anti-infantry support in most anything else.
民兵/苏醒者——这将会在救赎者的肩膀上增设一挺反步兵机枪。效果和把机枪兵进驻到MARV一样,这大概是你最不想用的升级了。它没有比民兵小队强大多少,而且大多数情况下你可以找到更好的反步兵支持。

Militant Rocket Squad - This will give you an anti-air and anti-vehicle rocket launcher on the Redeemer's shoulder. This will be one of your more reliable choices, as it gives you a weapon with nice range, fair damage against vehicles, and some anti-air all at a reasonable price.

Saboteur - This will allow your Redeemer to auto-repair. Just like having Engineers upgrade the MARV, the repair rate is fairly slow. However, with the Cloaking Field ability, it does give the Redeemer the chance to do some hit-and-run style attacking where this can be a very good upgrade to use.

Black Hand - This will put an anti-infantry and anti-structure flame thrower on your Redeemer. When it comes to bang for your buck, this is the upgrade of choice, regardless of your faction. While vanilla Nod and Marked of Kane can stealth it for some nice hit-and-running on bases, the Black Hand are shortchanged and don't get their Purifying Flame upgrade transferred to the Redeemer.

Tiberium Trooper - This will give you a green tiberium ooze dispenser that is good against mainly infantry. This weapon can also slow down all vehicles when they are covered with the ooze. As the Marked of Kane, you aren't going to have that many options. This might be good for infantry, however, only one is ever needed.

None of these things mentioned previously are what makes the Redeemer such a great unit. The biggest advantage that the Redeemer has, is its Rage Generator ability. This ability has a huge radius, and makes all opposing units in that radius attack each other before they attack any of your units. Using something such as Cloaking Field in addition to this ability, you can see where this seems almost overpowered in some situations. However, there is a small catch that if a unit is being told to attack a certain unit before the Rage Generator is activated, it will not start going berserk before the targeted unit is killed. However, when a unit is under the Rage condition, the owner cannot even select the unit until the Rage condition has passed.

Suggested Combinations

Keep in mind with Redeemer, since it only has two slots, mixing and matching is going to result in a unit that isn't very efficient at anything. Therefore good choices are

  • Two Sabetours: If you are going to spam the Rage Generator then flee, this is your best bet.

  • Two Black Hands: The Black Hands offer a lot of help when you are in close combat. However their range is rather limited and the Redeemer cannot fire while moving. That said, this option is very situational.

  • Two Militant Rocket Squads: Your best bet when facing a GDI opponent. The Rocket Squads have enough firepower to keep Orca's at bay, however this combination is well rounded vs all factions, just be sure you are aware of your health.

Eradicator Hexapod

(根除者六足机甲)





When it comes to raw potential and what you can make the most of, Scrin's Eradicator Hexapod is the Epic Unit of choice. The main reason for this is because Scrin has the most choices for repairing units on the fly at a good rate with either Corrupters or Mechapedes with Toxin Segments. This means you have a meat-shield that for argument's sake, can't die as long as they don't attack the Mechapedes or Corrupters. With other units supporting your Eradicator Hexapod, you can imagine that they are going to get their army torn apart going for the Corrupters or Mechapedes that are behind that huge Eradicator Hexapod. In addition, remember that you can use the Phase Field support power to make the Eradicator Hexapod close to invincible for a certain period of time, while still letting it crush infantry and vehicles. This can definitely come in handy. The Eradicator Hexapod's initial weapons are plasma discs that resemble closely the Devastator Warship's weapon. This is effective against all ground class units.

Just like the other Epic Units before it, the Eradicator Hexapod can also be garrisoned with infantry. The Eradicator Hexapod can garrison up to three infantry units to give it different weapons and abilities.

Disintegrator - This will give your Eradicator Hexapod a close range anti-vehicle weapon. Now, this weapon does some decent damage, however, its range isn't as long as your initial weapon (it isn't bad by any means). To use this correctly, you will need to get pretty close to opposing units, which probably isn't the best choice in most situations.

Assimilator - The Assimilator, just like all Engineer class infantry units garrisoned in an Epic Unit, heals the Hexapod slowly. With the ability you gain from garrisoning a Mastermind or Prodigy, means that this self-repair has great potential. However, we will get to that ability shortly.

Shock Troops - This will give your Eradicator Hexapod an anti-air and anti-vehicle weapon. Obviously a fairly well rounded choice if you are going for a straight forward Eradicator Hexapod with no tricks. Though, there are probably better choices in general in most situations. Plus, Shock Troops can handle themselves.

Ravagers - This will give your Eradicator Hexapod a predominantly anti-infantry weapon, though it fares well against vehicles as well. If you are going for generic upgrades in power, this is going to be your upgrade of choice.

Mastermind/Prodigy - Upgrading the Eradicator Hexapod with one of these gives it the ability to teleport within a fairly big radius. The greatest potential for the Eradicator Hexapod comes from this because it not only gains the ability to teleport to safety when a situation is dire, but it gives it the ability to teleport into battle. Teleporting into battle is so very important because as an Epic Unit, it can run over third tier units. Therefore, teleporting it right in front, or behind, a swag of Mammoth Tanks, Avatars, etc will give you a great chance to crush them since when the Eradicator Hexapod slightly overlaps one of these units, it crushes it. If you aren't successful in that, it will get them on the run so your other units will be able to take advantage of this (especially the Avatar since they can't reverse move and would be crushed if they tried).

Now unfortunately for the Eradicator Hexapod, its ability is probably the worst out of the three Epic Units. It will give you 15% of the cost of any opposing unit or structure you destroy that is in the Eradicator Hexapod's radius (the circle that you see when you have the Eradicator Hexapod selected). While this doesn't seem too shabby, it really doesn't seem to amount to much at all in your wallet. This ability isn't quite as tide-turning as the other two.

Now, with the Eradicator Hexapod having pretty weak upgrades, it is usually better to focus on one thing instead of combining tons of different things. So the suggestions are

  • One Mastermind/Prodigy and Two Disintegrators: The teleport/close range combo is very useful for flanking enemy armor or zooming right up to his MCV and watch him panic.

EPIC单位进驻步兵后的攻击力取决于EPIC单位本身的等级而非进驻的步兵的等级。也就是说一辆三级的MARV进驻一队只剩下一个人的ZR的威力要远大于一辆刚出厂的MARV+一队满员的三级ZR。

说说我的愤怒发生器

愤怒产生器的用法,加2个黑手,后用隐性力场把救赎者变为隐形单位。释放能力后逃,隐形的别人看不见,如果有步兵追杀过来,火焰可以料理他们

When it comes to raw potential and what you can make the most of, Scrin's Eradicator Hexapod is the Epic Unit of choice. The main reason for this is because Scrin has the most choices for repairing units on the fly at a good rate with either Corrupters or Mechapedes with Toxin Segments. This means you have a meat-shield that for argument's sake, can't die as long as they don't attack the Mechapedes or Corrupters. With other units supporting your Eradicator Hexapod, you can imagine that they are going to get their army torn apart going for the Corrupters or Mechapedes that are behind that huge Eradicator Hexapod. In addition, remember that you can use the Phase Field support power to make the Eradicator Hexapod close to invincible for a certain period of time, while still letting it crush infantry and vehicles. This can definitely come in handy. The Eradicator Hexapod's initial weapons are plasma discs that resemble closely the Devastator Warship's weapon. This is effective against all ground class units.

这一段原文出了个很Orz的错误,蜈蚣的头上有分解炮的...如果用装了毒素体节去给根除者加血的话,那门分解炮同样会很卖力地打根除者...


进步兵的话,分解者的火力是最强的,但是射程最短,不能防空;震荡波能防空,打车辆建筑业不错;破坏者的实际输出类似震荡波,对步兵更强,但要命的是射程不够
当艾达人悲伤地开着追悼会之时,当猴子的祖先还在沙滩上用鳍爬行之日,渔民的先人还在海里愉快地光合作用

以太放开修女教长,指着陆战队士官大吼:“秃驴,竟敢跟贫道抢师太!”

eh....我个人觉得根除者进驻震波部队的话攻击力也是很强的啊。尤其是对空时,基本上连根除者自己的武器也可以对空了,而且除了Scrin本身的大型战舰外,基本是秒杀任何空军的。
