1. Installing the game using "Autorun"
a) Installing FIFA Manager 08
The easiest method of installing FIFA Manager 08 is to use the "Autorun" feature. Upon inserting the FIFA Manager 08 DVD in your DVD-ROM drive, the game will launch the FIFA Manager 08 installation.
b) Minimum required hard disk space
You must have at least 3,500 MB free space on your hard disk when installing the game.
c) If "Autorun" is disabled
If for some reason "Autorun" is disabled on your computer, you can install the program by running AUTORUN.EXE directly from the root directory of the DVD.
Note: The installation of a second FIFA Manager 08 without uninstalling the original game data is not recommended. A new installation to the same path without uninstalling first, can also lead to problems. To avoid problems, 声utorun?should be used for all installs. It is not possible to install the game to the DVD-ROM drive.
2. Minimum PC configuration
If any problems arise, please check first of all that your PC complies with the following minimum configuration:
Operating system Microsoft Windows 2000/XP (Microsoft Windows 95,
Windows 98/ME and Microsoft Windows NT are
not supported),
FIFA Manager 08 also works with Microsoft Windows Vista
Processor 1.3 GHz Intel Pentium III processor (or equivalent)
Memory 512 MB
Video card 64 MB (AGP/PCI-E) Video card (see section 10 for
supported video cards)
HDD space 3,500 MB free hard disk space before installation
(for minimum install size)
DVD ROM speed 8x DVD-ROM drive
Sound card DirectX 9.0c or higher compatible sound card
DirectX DirectX 9.0c or higher
NOTE: If you experience any virtual memory issues, please set the minimum to 1,024MB or higher.
3. DirectX
The program will not run unless DirectX is installed. For FIFA Manager 08, the minimum supported version of DirectX is DirectX 9.0c.
To enable you to install it easily, DirectX 9.0c is contained on the FIFA Manager 08 DVD.
DirectX and supported hardware
We recommend that FIFA Manager 08 be run with DirectX compatible sound and video cards.
If your sound or video card does not support DirectX, please contact your hardware vendor.
4. Uninstalling FIFA Manager 08
Microsoft Windows has an "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Control Panel that can be used to uninstall the game.
Some files (like save games) will be left on the hard disk after the uninstall process if you decide to keep them. You will find them in your personal folder.
5. Memory requirements
a) Memory requirements in Microsoft Windows
FIFA Manager 08 requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM. If more memory is available, you will experience better game performance in all areas. Since FIFA Manager 08 processes an enormous amount of data, a lot of memory can be more important than a fast processor, especially if you are playing with several leagues.
Important: FIFA Manager 08 requires at least 1,024MB of free swap file space. Please consult the Microsoft Windows help pages to determine how to change your virtual memory system.
b) Running the game in Windows
At Electronic Arts we strive to bring you the best in graphics, audio and gameplay; we are always seeking to maximise computer performance. Although we have made every effort to ensure that FIFA Manager 08 multi-tasks with other applications, we recommend that you shut down all other applications (including virus scanners) and run FIFA Manager 08 by itself whenever possible.
IMPORTANT: When playing FIFA MANAGER 08, you should keep the DVD in your DVD drive at all times. Failure to do so can result in serious problems, including being unable to continue the game.
c) Not Enough Free Swap File Space
It may still happen that there is not enough free memory and/or total swap disk space available to launch FIFA Manager 08. In this case you can try to free some memory by closing applications, rebooting the system or simply by waiting some time and trying again.
6. Improving game speed
There are several ways in which you can increase the speed of FIFA Manager 08:
a) Select the "Pitch" sound effects mix in the Technical Options section on the Options screen.
b) Ensure that Hardware Acceleration is set to the maximum level. This setting is located under Control Panel\Display\Settings\Advanced\Troubleshooting in Microsoft Windows 2000/XP.
c) Even relatively slow computers allow the game to be played at a much-accelerated rate if a lot of memory is available.
d) If you experience problems with the frame rate of the game you should try to deactivate the player pictures on the line-up screen.
e) You can also improve the frame rate by turning off the 3D player faces on the options screen.
7. Configuration files
The configuration files (music settings, save games, custom training schedules and other User-specific settings) are stored in a subdirectory of your My Documents folder.
8. MP3 player
When choosing a custom directory for MP3 files, make sure that the full path name does not contain more than 59 characters. We recommend that you create a MP3 subdirectory of the FIFA Manager 08 directory and copy your MP3 files to this directory.
9. Notes on video cards / chipsets
If you are experiencing problems with your video card and FIFA Manager 08, we recommend updating your video card driver by downloading the latest driver available from the video card manufacturer. The video card chipset is the video processor located on the video card. If you cannot find any information in the video card manual or on the website, examine the video card for a chip inscribed with the manufacturer's name. Some popular chip manufacturers' websites are listed below:
NVIDIA http://www.nvidia.com/
ATI http://www.ati.com/
S3 Graphics http://www.s3graphics.com/
INTEL http://www.intel.com
MATROX http://www.matrox.com/
10. Notes on video card support
Supported chipsets:
- ATI Radeon 7500
- ATI Radeon 8500
- ATI Radeon 9xxx series (with the exceptions 9200, 9250)
- ATI Radeon X600, X700, X800 series (with the exception Radeon X800 Pro)
- NVIDIA GeForce 2 (GTS, MX, Ultra/Ti)
- NVIDIA GeForce 3 (Ti)
- NVIDIA GeForce 4 (MX, Ti)
- NVIDIA GeForce FX series
- NVIDIA GeForce 6800
- Intel i915g
- S3 GammaChrome S18 Pro
- Matrox Millennium (P650, P750)
- various other video cards
If you experience problems, please contact your video card manufacturer or vendor for the latest drivers. We have experienced low frame rates using the Matrox Parhelia 128MB, the Intel i865g cards and the NVIDIA GeForce MX series of cards.
11. Notes on Microsoft Windows
FIFA Manager 08 supports Microsoft Windows 2000/Microsoft Windows XP/Microsoft Windows Vista.
*NOTE: To install the game properly on Microsoft Windows 2000/Microsoft Windows XP/Microsoft Windows Vista, you need administrator access to your computer. Consult your Microsoft Windows 2000/Microsoft Windows XP/Microsoft Windows Vista documentation for more information.
Microsoft Windows XP has a feature called Fast User Switching which allows multiple users sharing the same computer to have individual profiles and to swap their current work spaces without logging off. FIFA Manager 08 does not support this feature.
Please do not start two games of FIFA Manager 08 at the same time. The games will not work correctly.
12. Low Frame Rates
'Enter Player Information' Screen
On this screen the frame right might drop on PCs with just one CPU core. The database is loaded and initialised in a second thread which takes time but speeds up the loading process later.
'Ups and Downs' Screen
On this screen the frame rate might drop because many player heads are loaded. This is only the case if you speed up the display of the players.
13. Controller
If your controller needs manual calibration, please make sure that it is calibrated correctly. We would recommend that you calibrate your controller every time you start the game.
For full functionality a 360 degrees analog gamepad like the Logitech Dual Action Pad is recommended.
14. Task switching with ALT+TAB
Please note the game does not support ALT+TAB.
15. Data input closing date
The accuracy of the club and player data used in FIFA Manager 08 was verified on September 10 2007. Squad changes occurring after this date had to be disregarded.
16. Help
If you are unable to resolve your problem with the above notes, use the help file that contains EA's technical support. It is located under "EA Help" in Start\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA Manager 08 (the path may depend on your operating system).
