Get ready for the latest entry in Sony's well-loved Spec Ops franchise, different from its predecessors in many ways. There is so much info that I can't do a just summary!

This is the surprise announcement promised for GTTV tomorrow morning, by the way.

Info update:

This is a re-invision. Zipper Interactive, the company  that did all the numbered Socom games will also be doing this one. They want you to know that you've never played a SOCOM game quite like this, which retains all the Classic SOCOM elements (team work, authenticity and innovative online play) while being very much a new PS3 Experience.

First of all, the setting, directly quoted from the EU PS Blog (apparently, the game will have an intricate story-driven campaign, so you should know it)

In South East Asia, a revolutionary army has seized control of a country bordering one of the world’s most vital waterways; threatening to disrupt he global economy.

Your mission is to step into the well-worn boots of the Ops Com, a NATO Operations Commander of an elite, five-man squad. You must venture deep into inhospitable jungles, city streets and crumbling urban ruins to engage an army of rebel fighters and discover their plans. Although you’re vastly outnumbered, you’re armed with the latest weaponry and your men are second to none – but do you possess the stealth, speed and tactical thinking to lead them to victory? Time is not on your side: you have just six days to complete your mission. To emerge victorious, you must lead from the front, maintain control of the situation and fight with sheer intensity.

Aside from a "gripping single-player story mode" Zipper also promises 32-player multiplayer, with players dividing into teams and being able to jump into the boots of more special forces than ever before... all with unparalleled SOCOM realism (I wonder whether my favorite, the Spetznaz is included - I guess we'll know soon enough, though)

The EU PS Blog went on to note that even at this early stage, the game is still looking pretty damn great... and asked us to tune in tomorrow for an exclusive teaser trailer... will do!

Info update 2:

The story-driven campaign will unfold throughout 14 missions with an overall approximate length of 12 hours. Even though the game is set in the jungle, expect to see beaches, mountains, and villages as well... expect serious hardship throughout the missions, though. Being stuck wherever you are, you can't return to base anytime you want to heal up, regroup and restock - you got some equipment from HQ to go along with you, and anything else is procure-on-site.

Zipper will not make the game easy on you, which is something I have to note because the company also said that it wants the game to appeal to a wider audience - so don't worry. Enemies will use all available tactics to outdo you in a confrontation - suppressing fire, flanking, cover, bounding, and enemy commander will even call air strikes to get you out of cover and ill you off. AI is a serious focus of the team this time.

Obviously, you will have tactical options of your own, as an Ops commander without them is, well... not a commander. You will have a new command mode at your disposal and you'll be able to set waypoints for your team members, issue squad commands, set behaviors and even command your squad to take out multiple targets on the way to an objective. Everything mentioned is done through this simple command mode, with no sub-menus or anything. It is pretty convenient, especially with the fact hat all commands are given in real time - sure, things will slow down and you'll be able to see tactical points of interest, but the action won't stop and you can still get killed. Much like your enemies, you will also have air support should you need it - sometimes the action is full on firefight, but sometimes you'll find yourself sneaking up on your enemies.

难度不会低,但是制作方zipper也提到这款游戏将会面向大众玩家,所以不用太担心。敌人AI将会出奇的高,比如隐蔽开火,侧翼包抄,掩护,敌人指挥官甚至可以呼叫空袭,从而逼迫玩家离开掩体的保护。总而言之,敌人的AI将会是一个很强的挑战

作为一名行动指挥官,玩家会对自己的小队安排战术,比如路线,行动,甚至一次性解决多个目标。上述战术都在一个指令中完成,不会有菜单选择,非常方便,但也意味着不论在何种情况下,所有战术指令将在真实时间下完成,当然,如果需要的话,玩家也会得到空中支援。在战场中,玩家会发现自己时而面对着战火纷飞的火爆战场,时而也需要渗透来解决问题

如果出PC版估计好点,掩体射击题材游戏一直没几款能大幅热门,GOW定下的标准确实很高。

主要还是风格。战术风格的射击游戏,比如这个,还有ghost recon,rainbow,似乎都比较冷门。。。

敵人的AI是具有挑戰性的,遊戲性方面應該不弱,想必有一定難度。

现代战争题材要搞成大热门确实只能做成FPS,端着一杆枪四处跑,如同使命战地,10多年老传统。而战争机器此类TPS创新不少,近几年从360开始才真正兴起流行,发展有待时日,个人是很希望多些此类游戏,题材不限,更能表现人物动作和环境交互,像红色派系转型的还不错,幽灵行动到了PC上整成了FPS,实在是糟蹋。GTA4也加了个掩体系统。其他真正好的确实没多少。
