Using an expand vehicle or moving the MCV?

用扩张车还是移动主基地车?

In 1.09 it is more advisable to move mcv than to use the vehicle , of course there are exceptions ( like the most played map TA) in my opinion at least.

在1.09补丁里,更推荐移动主基地车的方式来扩张。当然我认为至少也有一些例外(比如地图TA)

This will be a never-ending dilemma: I can't state for a fact which one is best, but I can tell you a bit on each option:

这是个无休止的争议话题:我不能说哪一个最好,但是我可以分别说说二者的异同。

Using the expand vehicle

使用扩张车

+ Faster
+ No build-delay (As in while you move mcv you can't build buildings)
- More risk involved earlygame
- Earlygame cost of 1500

优点:

缺点:
在早期游戏中冒更大的危险
需要在初期花费1500


My personal preference goes out to using these, I have an easier time recovering from a dead expo and then possibly moving mcv, than relying on moving mcv right away. Even though in some cases its not wise to go for one ( like if you are 100% sure he will use Shadow teams on you and you are GDI)

The -'s here are rather situational as you will often be spending most of your cash right away so you dont really need the build queue eg. on STusa when you PP/RAX/REF/WF(Buggy-2harvs first)/REF/WF and then spam Scorps from the WF's as Nod, you'll be spending all the cash you earn from those spikes & refs on the 2 WF. On other maps like TA, it can hurt you quite a bit though, but its definitely worth it if you lost your original expo as having blue on this map matters a lot.

Hunting the opponents expanding vehicle

Why would you want to hunt your opponents expanding vehicle? It's for pretty obvious reasons actually, on most of the maps where you will use one at the start ( e.g TA ), it will be to gain an economic advantage over your opponent by accessing blue tib. Chances will be a lot higher off winning if you can stop your opponent from doing so.

Now theres 3 main ways to hunt it, one for each army.

- Going for early Engi/apcs are your best ( and only ) bet to stop the opponent from expanding, try unloading/loading the engineer if he has already deployed it and has refs there ( which will be the case on most occasions). Try to make him sell his buildings there.

Versus the GDI Engi apc

This should be the easiest one to deal with as you can get out light tanks at the same time he gets his APC's. Using a fast Warfbuild will secure this, another option is relying on inf towers, this is not recommended though as only Scrins T1 buzzer hive is "reliable ( to a certain extent)" doing this.

Shadowteam rushes can be detected by a riflemensquad or a scouting buzzer, you can tell from 2 things when you scout if he went ST's or not:

- You can either get lucky and run into one so you get the stealth unit detected message

After you know he went for them, do NOT instantly deploy the vehicle but wait a bit and try to clear the ST's first.

Versus the Desintrush

This one can be rather annoying since its a guess , wether he goes for your spike ( in which case you would need to defend there) or for your expanding vehicle. Either way, if you decide to protect the expanding vehicle, you will need 2/3 riflemen squads as GDI/Nod and make sure they are split up a bit so they don't get killed too fast by buzzers. As Scrin, I would advice you to try and get the desint down.

Expanding in the lategame

This can be good and used to be done loads in 1.08. If you move a expand vehicle with your attack forces and then deploy it so you can pop up those annoying Sonic emitters/obelisks/Storm columns. Of course on most maps you can also crawl, but crawling with refs lategame (GDI's best crawl structure) is pretty dumb and then this will be more helpful, it can be rather good for both GDI and Nod, Scrin would probably be better of using Stasis chambers and selling them as they proceed.

In addition to chapter 4 there's the possiblity to airlift it and drop it off somewhere at his base and hoping he doesn't spot it before it is deployed and you can either cap some buildings or pop up some T3 defenses

99% of the people do not utilize the fastest way to expand, mainly because it isnt always needed, but with some bo's it is, and can save you from wasting time and/or ST's. So the next drawings should show how to expand the fastest.

After you've captured a building, what are your choices? How can you use it to your best advantage? In contrast with the previous tip, "Countering Engineer Rushes", this tip will show you how to proceed once you've established some ground control in your opponents base.

Build a Barracks

So, what are your options after you've built a Barracks there, and why would you build one there in the first place?

  • You can train an Engineer and try to capture other buildings while they're busy.
  • You can train an Engineer and load it in the APC that delivered the first Engineer.

Using Ground Control to Your Advantage

First off, versus the infantry you can attack with, let's say Predator Tanks and counter his infantry by putting anti-infantry towers near the building that you've captured that provides you with ground control.

What to build from your captured War Factory

Rather than selling the War Factory, there are a few options to consider.

  • If you have the economy to begin expanding at your captured structure, you might want to consider harassing with some new units.
  • Not only can you bring your other tanks to the captured factory to repair, but you can continue building units and expanding.
  • If you need the extra 1000 credits, don't hesitate to sell the structure, the worst thing that can happen is your opponent recapturing the structure.

  • 如果你有经济实力展开扩张,你可以考虑用些新单位来骚扰。

When You've Captured an MCV

You got three choices if you captured one:

    • You sell it off right away and get a free Engineer and try to capture a nearby building.
      If its done with APC+Engi, you could get the Engineer in the APC again and proceed capturing another structure.
    • You try to gain access to the opponent's technology by building a Crane at your base (I dont advice this, however, too high a cost).
    • Keep the ground control and try to invade your opponent's base from there.

    Capture Buildings with Special Abilities

    Selling a GDI or Nod Construction Yard will net you one Rifleman Squad and more importantly, one Engineer, which can be used to capture another building.

    Capturing a Nod Operations Center or Tech Lab denies your opponent higher tier technology. Both of these structures give you a Black Hand Squad when sold, which when loaded into the APC, gives you a makeshift Flame Tank.

The 3 superweapons are: the Rift Generator (Scrin), the Ion Cannon Control Center (GDI), and the Temple of Nod (Nod). The best time to build a superweapon is usually in a stalemate, though the Temple of Nod's Master Computer Countermeasures ability can make it useful in other situations.

If you build a superweapon early on, it can sometimes be better to hold your ground and wait until it is charged. If you attack with a charged superweapon, then your opponent's army will be easily wiped out when he tries to defend against you, since you can just use the superweapon on his army.

The Rift Generator

The Rift Generator is the most effective superweapon to use in direct combat. Using it solely against buildings is kind of a waste, since it deals its damage slowly and your opponent will likely be able to sell most of his buildings before they are destroyed.

You should put up some Storm Columns near your Rift Generator. This will give you opponent a very difficult time trying to destroy it.

The Rift Generator is most effective for use in direct combat because it instantly appears, when you place it in the middle of your opponent's army. Your opponent will have no time to flee or escape from it, since it will appear without warning. The Ion Cannon Control Center

The Ion Cannon is probably the worst of the superweapons, since it gives off a lengthy amount of warning before the main blast hits. All those swirling lasers it does before its main blast will tell your opponent where it is about to hit, and he will likely be able to move his force away from the center of the blast or sell the buildings that are about to be destroyed.

The Temple of Nod

The Temple of Nod has an ability called 'Master Computer Countermeasures', which will instantly recover your units from the EMP effect. This section of the guide will explain the ways you can make use of this ability.

You should put up a Disruption Tower and some SAM Turrets near your Temple of Nod. Even though the Temple of Nod will be shown to your opponent through his shroud, it will still make it harder for him to strike it if he cannot see it and its surrounding area.

The Master Computer Countermeasures will make all of your vehicles and structures instantly recover from an EMP. This could mean the difference between a defeat and victory. A well placed Shockwave Artillery on your units can easily let your opponent cause massive damage to your force, but if you use the Master Computer Countermeasures ability, they will instantly recover from the effect. It is the same with the EMP Tech Structure, too.

If you use an EMP Coil upgraded Raider Buggy, and then quickly use the Temple of Nod's ability
(Master Computer Countermeasures), your Raider Buggy will instantly recover from its own EMP and its EMP ability will start recharging. The Raider Buggies EMP takes as long to recharge as the EMP lasts, but it doesn't start recharging until after it has recovered from its EMP.

If your opponent gets a vehicle close to the EMPed Raider Buggies, you could use the Master Computer Countermeasures ability to cause their after effect to instantly trigger and EMP the enemy vehicle.

A Scrin player will have access to very heavy units but they tend to be very expensive, meaning that late game spamming of units can be difficult. One of the things that adds depth to Command and Conquer 3 is the whole idea of husks. Managing husks correctly or incorrectly many a times is the difference between victory or defeat in a close game.

There are two basic things to keep in mind with husks. First off, they don't have any specific kind of damage penalty pending on type of damage. This means that BULLET, CANNON, and other such types of damage all do the same percentile of damage to a husk. The second thing to keep in mind is that originally starts with half life after you capture a husk with your respective Engineer/Sabatour/Assimilator. Now, if the husk is damaged, it will start off with less than half life, but since most of the time it will have not been injured, it is generally accepted that it will start with half of its maximum health. Which for the weakest walker, being the Juggernaut, starting at 5000 health, the 2500 health you do get, along with that massive damage it does is well worth the 500 it costs to build your respective Engineer/Sabatour/Assimilator.

Now here are a couple things to keep in mind for each faction when it comes to dealing with husks. Remember, as a general rule of thumb, that you want to capture husks primarily because of the advantage they give. However, the last thing you want to do is have your opponent capture husks, so sometimes it is better to cut your losses off.

This way you don't have to run them all the way back to your base to get them fully healed. In many matches things can be going along nicely, with some nice skirmishes going on with your pretty little tanks and infantry units duking it out. Things moving along nicely in all regards. Then all of a sudden your opponent is coming at you with Tripods against your pitiful force of Scorpions or Predators, and you haven't even bothered to get to Tier 2 yet. Things look bad for you my friend.

Here in lies the importance of Teching.

There are three tech tiers in C&C3, four if your playing as the Scrin. Tier 1 holds all the basic tanks and infantry types and are the most used units in the game. Tier 2 adds a few new units and offers up some of the first support powers available to you. Whilst Tier 3 opens up the last remaining units and most powerful support powers. As Scrin the getting to tier 4, make available the all powerful Mothership and the Planetary Assault Carrier.

So when exactly should you Tech up? Well that depends on you I suppose. You can go for the quick tech strategy and more or less ignore tier 1 and tier 2 units. Or you can choose to hold off whilst you focus your efforts more on attacking your opponent. And lastly you can choose to totally ignore teching up and put all production and resources into units, the downside of this, is that if you don't slaughter your opponent quickly, his superior technology could come back and bite you in the ass.

Getting the timing right on when you should Tech up, is something that takes time and practice to get a good feel for when its right to do so. In any event don't put it off to long, as you don't want your opponent to get the upper hand.
