Ok everyone, I know we have a few couple lists already, but I've seen a few other good posts which I think a lot of members will miss unless they happened to be reading the specific threads so I posted them here. (Note: this thread is NOT about suggesting balance or which General is better; its only purpose is to inform everyone on the latest information regarding balance). I'll keep on adding important posts as I see more information that I think looks useful. Feel free to PM me--I'll be reading comments here, but I always get to PMs a lot faster so that'd make things a lot easier on both of us (me and whoever points me to new info).
EDIT: Shortened the intro text and changed the color for each general. I also changed the topic title...what the heck was I typing when I made this thing?
Ironside
Advantages: - Powerful tanks.
- Mammoth tanks (must I really say more?).
- More armor = durability.
- His tanks are almost unmatched (note the word almost)
- Based on what I've read (someone correct me if I'm wrong), a lot of his replacement units are much stronger and heavily armored (although it has to make a few sacrifices). For example, Bradley is stronger and more heavily armored than Humvee, but Infantry can't shoot out. F-16 is stronger and more powerful than stealth fighter, no stealth, Blackwidow is more powerful but no AA. (You get the picture...)
- Has a China-like variety: he has a variety of different units to take on different roles. (Such as the Vulcan Tank and Tank Destroyer)
- Sniper Burton that damages vehicles.
Disadvantages: - More of a rusher.
- Most inherent (and obvious) weakness is his economy.
- Has a separate building for his radar.
- Units are painfully slow
- Defenses are a pain--they take up a lot of space and need to be built on concrete slabs, and they each perform different functions. (Kinda like C&C 3--you have AA, AI, and AT all separate).
- Requires lots of microing.
- Has no snipers beside Burton.
- Artillery doesn't come until Level 3.
- Lacks Auroras and Comanches.
General - More of a rusher.
- In short, he's very powerful on the ground and (as Mathias said) unrivaled up to Kwai. (And lets not forget Deathstrike has some good weapons)...
Leang
Advantages: - Has a ton of special tech.
- Some units have a variety of roles, making them able to adapt to several situations (like the Black Shark for example. I'll let you read what Mathias posted below at the bottom of my source list).
- Units that have single fill their roles with "terrifying power" (hammer/anvil/ravage/etc.)
- Has units that can go up-close or attack at a distance
- Flame Tank, Phoenix Bombers, Anvils, Black Sharks...must I say more than "Flame Tank" with White Napalm?
- Personal speculation: seems a lot of units start with upgrades. (For example, Gatling Outpost starts with chaingun; flame tanks start with black napalm, that's what I know off the top of my head, and I'm guessing more are going to come).
Disadvantages: - Many of her units are counterable, meaning you're going to be doing the same to your enemy (countering them)
- Most vulnerable to rushing
- Mostly powerful in longer games
- Can't spam like China
General: - Plays like USA: relies heavily on special tech. you need to know how to use.
Deathstrike
Advantages: - Powerful units.
- Powerful defenses, although AA and AG are separate. (Citing Post #89)
- Basilisk. (Need I say more? Warning: is slow as hell)
- (Direct rip from Mathias): takes things from other Generals--air lifting, MRLs, big tanks, etc.--and does it swiftly and stealthfully.
- Blends a lot of strengths from the USA/China--his units are quite powerful.
- Have Airforce problems? Gadfly (I'll leave it at that, since so many people rightfully hate Air)
Disadvantages: - Expensive units, especially for GLA
- His units need to be salvaged before they've reached their full potential. (Mathias confirmed that, everyone)
- Has fewer cheap tricks than GLA
- He can't set up like GLA
- His tactics are more direct
General: - Plays much more like China; relies less on hit-and-run but he can spam expensive units.
