1UP: The past 3D GTAs were obviously inspired by movies and TV shows -- Goodfellas, Boyz in the Hood, Miami Vice. This is the first one that seems to go off on its own. Have you run out of inspirations for the series?

SH: ...We felt that the Italian mob thing had been done to death a little bit. I think we've got some good Italian mobsters in this game, but they're not leading the game. I'm a big, big fan of The Sopranos -- how could I not be? -- but I also feel as if that stuff's had its run. We also read a bunch of books and did a bunch of research on it, and the more we dug into it

GTA4我还没通关，不过里面有一章叫 the puerto rican connection，章节名字和里面开车追火车的一段很明显是来自于电影the french connection

gta3以前的作品都对影视名作有刻意模仿和致敬。但是gta4的制作人已经明确说出，游戏艺术已经达到相当的高度，gta4就要做自己的世界自己的风格，不再刻意模仿任何电影。以后要进入电影模仿游戏的时代了。
