从罗马全战系列开始玩D版，这次我在英国想支持下正版游戏，本来想去amozon uk买个正版碟玩玩，呵呵，看到它在打折，原价40镑现在降到24，哈哈，真划算，但看到买正版玩家留言，给我泼了一头冷水，还是算了，看看什么时候SEGA出第二版补丁修正再说，呵呵，就像大家当年等vista出SP1补丁包后再装差不多，我不缺这点钱，还是再等等补丁吧，这边英国骂声震天了，哈哈。

Fun:
Oh my God, I waited so long and with so much anticipation for this game. I am a huge fan of the Total War series but with Empire, Creative Assembly managed to spit on the formula and throw away all the positive points in the series.
The interface feels sluggish compared with Medieval 2, AI turn takes age to complete, the sound is terrible and the tactical combat is horrible to watch. The general feeling is like they scrapped the old engine and gave the new one to an amateurish team.
All the voice acting that embelished Medieval 2 is history. Now diplomacy is presented in a text-only format. Battle sounds is totally dead, feels like it was recorded by someone too busy doing something else.
I am utterly disappointed. I'll keep playing Medieval 2 on the hope Creative Assembly realise the mistake they made and spend some resources polishing the game, but honestly i don't believe it will happen.

Fun:
I've been a Total War player for some time, and looked for to this latest version with so much anticipation - IT HAS NAVAL BATTLES!!
So when my game popped onto my mat from Amazon I was so eager to start.

and then my problems began. Like rather a lot of people on here, the steam installation didn't work, it refused the second disc, I wiped the installation, it stalled again, I wiped the installation again, on the third attempt (30 -40 mins per go I would warn) it did install, but crashed straight away. (I also realised it has 'permanently locked' my installation to my sons account, it didn't offer me the option of setting up my own - thanks very much Steam!)Next it kept trying to install again online instead of running from disc, and then told me to wait until the Steam server was available - (Huh? the book states clearly you only need to go online once to play this game)Finally I got it going several hours later.
So all the nonsense with Steam aside what did I find?
(BTW - I'm running a fairly high end XPS gaming machine with plenty of RAM and graphics capability - or so I thought)
Graphics were not that great - odd considering the lovely detail of previous games. The units were poorly animated and sort of slid over the ground in a rather strange manner. I went into my options and could only bump it up to 'medium' - the graphics interface isn't simple. it leaves you with a lot of options to find a good playability Vs graphic quality option.
The animation of the sailors 'boarding ship' is laughable - rather like a poorly animated conga line! hey ho, never mind the detail what about the gameplay?
Is it me or has someone taken what was great AI and thrown it out, to replace it with enemy units that act very stupidly now. In one quick battle the enemy infantry rushed quickly (they move much faster than before) to my flank to stand facing off against nothing but some trees!
The enemy ships seem to love sailing directly into the wind - it makes no difference to them! and the sheer number of countries & detail involved in the grand campaign means you dread clicking on the next turn button (unless you want to make another cup of tea)because frankly you can grow a beard in the time it takes waiting for the next turn.
I'm not impressed. I'll keep going, but I cannot see that patches are going to save this one- my view? They've over extended themselves with what was a fantastic game format and ended up with an unplayable game. seriously hamstrung by some of the most ineptly managed DRM issues I've ever seen. Seriously think before buying. You'll be paying good money for a game that you can't install/load/play/resell.
I'd consider selling mine for 50%, but of course I can't because it's locked to my sons Steam account. Great!

Fun:
This is the first time I have ever had a problem with a game I have bought. This game does not function because you cannot load it, I did not buy Steam I bought Empire Total War! After watching the screen for a couple of hours I was upset, I am a pensioner and can ill afford to waste my money and till now had never had reason to complain about any game I have spend my hard earned money on! Well this is a first and it is an absolutely disgusting way to treat your customers! I have no desire to play online, I don't want to subscribe to Steam, all I want is to be able to use the product which I bought for the purpose for which it was meant, to play on my PC! I can't!!
