It's like any other racing game, but with laser beams!To their credit, they've at least tried to flesh out the world you'll be racing in, greeting the player with live-action introductions to explain the "story" of a rookie driver rising through the ranks to challenge the established drivers in far-flung (and battle-worn) versions of Tokyo, Moscow, New York, Bangkok, Prague, Paris, London, Istanbul, San Diego and, we kid you not, Vatican City. Future Pope loves watching cars blow each other up, we hear.

Though we didn't have a whole lot of time to take the game through its paces, what was there certainly felt like a car combat game. Hitting jumps allowed us to do barrel rolls, and driving over power-ups did everything from add missiles and mines to our repertoire to repair our busted ride to giving us a little extra turbo juice. It's certainly familiar territory, but nothing we saw was offensive, it just hit us with an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.
