We got some rather juicy news this afternoon at Blag Towers in the form of a leak from EA Sports about the soundtrack for the forthcoming release of FIFA 11.
Our source told us that the game will feature songs from the likes of MGMT, Linkin Park and the unlikely inclusion of Fire With Fire by New York pop act, Scissor Sisters.
MGMT to feature on FIFA 11 soundtrack
EA have paid close attention on their in-game soundtracks in recent years since the introduction of EA Trax in 2001, with last year’s FIFA featuring tracks from artists such as Major Lazer, Dananananaykroyd, Röyksopp and The Temper Trap to name but a few and, by the looks of it, this year’s release is keeping up the trend.
The game will also include Fifa Theatre, a custom soundtrack feature that allows gamers to import their own tracks into the game and make playlists of their own. It also allows users to incorporate customised chants into club’s anthems which can be set to play at key moments in the game, like during intros, goal celebrations, at halftime or at the end of a match. The names of the players can also be chanted in the stadium during gameplay.
EA’s continuing support of music, in particular their inclusion of so much new music, is commendable and is a habit that we are hoping they will continue as it helps deliver that music to new and wider audiences.
FIFA 11 is due for European release on 1 October 2010.
